The latest, most arresting, interior design trends – this time courtesy of Joseph Dirand – come into their own at Distrito Capital. Grupo Habita left nothing to chance; from the most prominent vintage furnishings to details like John Pawson’s cutlery, and even in the smallest (yet significant) in-room accessories from Acqua di Parma.
In all spaces, rigorous horizontals and verticals are enhanced by modern furnishings courtesy of Platt, Hansen and Aalto Artek Aalto A110 Pendant Lamp, Hans Wegner CH008 Coffee Table in the lobby, planter low table from Knoll, Organic Chairs by Vitra, and includes pieces by German Industrial Designer Dieter Rams among others.

A new addition to Tom Dixon‘Mirror Ball Collection, is the Mirror Ball Stand. It features an array of various sized balls on a robust stainless steel stand, held together with industrial strength clamps. The look overall is a sculptural silver cluster of mirror balls quoted by Dixon as the “lighting Tree”
Milan Design Week 2009 lunched a collection of sofas & seating from Tom Dixon by George Smith. The collection celebrates the traditions of British upholstered furniture with each piece hand made by George Smith using techniques practised for over 250 years.

Jamie Hayon’s Twenty Two Pieces of the finest wood and craftmanship. Hayon’s first collaboration with Ceccotti was recently presented at the Salone el Mobile. The Chair is of solid maple featuring an upholstered seat and back, and has a leather-covered tray beneath the seat. Contact Ceccotti for this must have Twenty Two Pieces Chair.
Josephine Queen 6.3. This is sensual and elegant. With a porcelain body wrapped in a mysterious shade, she reveals herself as both intriguing and essential. Another one of my favourites from Jamie Hayon. The full collection can be found at Metalarte and is sold in Australia at LPA Lighting.
Crystal Candy Set for Baccarat – Harcourt Lolly
Using a variety of textures and thickness, a new play on reflection has been accomplished with each of the nine characters that make up the collection. Fruity inspirations are mixed with gemlike features. The Crystal Candy set can be found at Baccarat in the Limited Editions section of their website.
The 41 Palmio Armchair by Alvar Aalto was designed in 1929. The armchair seat and back are made of curved plywood. The arms and base are laminated curved beech. An amazing chair for any home can be bought through Anibou in Australia.
I’ve decided to match this with the fantastic Alba Sideboard which draws its inspiration from mid-century plasterwork to create a sculptural piece. It’s made from 100% FSC timbers and it’s available in a wide range of colours from Pinch Design

Mattias Stahlbom on the Design of the E 27 “The simplicity of the naked bulb is hard to complete with” and I tend to agree with his words. It stands for something that feels romantic and contemporary at the same time. Simple beauty in such a strong object. I find this naked little bulb very bold and would make a striking piece bunched together as one. It’s available through Muuto
The stunning Mid-Century classic was designed by George Nelson in 1947 and produced by Howard Miller in the early 1950’s. Herman Miller, the now supplier has reissued the Nelson Bubble Lamps to the original specifications, using the original tooling of the steel frame with the polymer covering. These famous lamps of the past are a permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Spence and Lyda always have them in Stock.
